we wish to acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land, waters, and SKY on which we practice and play on. Elders past, present and emerging of the Gunaikurnai and Wurundjeri peoples and their surrounding clans.
We recognise their connection and SOVEREIGNTY to Country - AUSTRALIA - and extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands peoples.
WE continue to stand in solidarity with the immigrant diaspora, Black, IndigEnous, Peoples of colour, and the LGBTQI+ communities
SENTOSA MAM//
TWELVEBYTWELVE
“… a Khmer/ខ្មែរ conceptual artist working across textiles, paper collage, found materials (post consumer waste), painting, Photography, and film through the conscious practice of slow design.
Mam’s work explores their synergetic "third-culture" identity navigating life between Cambodia, asia and Australia.
Sexuality, identity, ideals in representations of beauty, traditional expectations and subverting paradigmatic "norms" and conditioned notions are themes embodied in their work.
Saturated in raw creativity Mam plays with fabrics and threads, paper cut-outs, depictions of thoughts, emotions and memories in monochromatic paintings, and combining found objects under their artist pseudonym twelvebytwelve.
Mam creates a visionary world of bad-ass sexy energy evocative of their freedom of expression that channels a voice deep in self-exploration, heritage, and feminist politics.”
